"Best coffee ever!" - the person that often drinks gas station coffee

Classic breakfast sandwich: 4 stars, iced coffee: 1 star service: 1 star Staff seemed a little annoyed when I asked sandwich questions. Maybe it'll be better when I visit next time! Did not finish iced coffee. Maybe they are known more for their speciality drinks? Good Luck!

What the ownership of Leaves and Beans has done is nothing short of amazing. They provide great coffee and food for a great price. They have a carefully selected staff that gives great service, and the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy!! You are definitely not in a coffee chain store, and your not in a pretentious shop where you need to feel like a botanist to order a coffee.

Great coffee and great coffee selection. This is a nice stop if shopping in Peoria Heights and you need a rest in the afternoon. Also a good place for a coffee after an early dinner in the heights.

I really liked the atmosphere of this place, and service was nice too. The product itself, to me, left a lot to be desired. The espresso was sharp-tasting and kind of unpleasant. I got a vegetarian sandwich too and it sort of sucked. The description sounded good, a panini with veggies and avocado and stuff on it. I was a little disappointed to see that instead of panini bread, they just used regular white bread. They put the cucumbers and avocado on before cooking it, unfortunately... so the result was a grilled whitebread sandwich with soggy-ass cucumbers and gray, ruined avocado slices. What were they thinking?!?!? This sandwich was like $8 and was created with little knowledge of food, cooking, sandwiches, and the laws of thermodynamics. Weak. Dudes... get some bread that's appropriate for panini... and apply the cukes and avocado AFTER grilling the sandwich. These are the basics.

Great selection of coffee and tea to take with you. Cozy atmosphere, great to go alone or with someone. Wide variety of menu items and can also get a sandwich. Small business but lots of seating available inside and out. If you haven't stopped in do so!

Great food. Great coffee. Great atmosphere. Great place. They really know coffee. They roast their own beans right on site. You can buy bulk coffee and tea in the basement. Highly recommended.

Their breakfast esp the Denver omelette is on e of the very best ive ever eaten. Love the variety of the coffee , but that breakfast has me going back minimum 5 days a week..for me it is a highlight of moving from Chicago to a small town...

Wonderful place. The wife, kid and I stopped in to check out a new coffee place, and overall I have good impressions. My wife got a bagel, which was... just a bagel, and I got an omelet. Which I had hoped would be giant and fluffy, but ended up being more of the french-type. Still, the spinach and mushrooms inside it were fresh. I don't much remember my drink. I think it was an almond frappe. Tasted good! Drinks were good - the cucumber / lime / lemon water at the front of the store was a nice touch. There's some comfy chairs where you can sit and read a book, and I saw lots of customers on laptops doing homework. Overall it's just wonderfully cozy. I think there's room to improve their food, and wish them the best!

I was in town for a wedding and was looking for a place to get some coffee and breakfast before heading home. After searching through Yelp reviews, I thought this would be a perfect fit. Unfortunately, this place missed the mark. The coffee is served in cheap styrofoam cup (the kind you would see in a lame workplace coffee bar or in a hotel room drawer) and all you get with it are single serve half and halfs and sugar packets. I know it may seem a little obsessive to focus on these details, but when I go out for coffee, I expect a little thought in the presentation. The place is in a good location and is cute enough inside, but I just don't see it as a coffee shop. To me it is just a random place that has ok food. Get your coffee elsewhere.

Staff is always helpful and friendly. One of my favorite places to hang out and grab some coffee or breakfast.

James, the present owner, has truly revived the cafe experience in the Heights ... I stopped in this morning for coffee, breakfast and some decaf Sumatra whole bean for my wife. I had an excellent experience ... The coffee was rich, smooth and tasty as ever ... the omelette was reasonably priced and more than filling ... the service was courteous and went out of their way to please every customer who came in or called (I was privy to a complaint call and the employee went out of his way to address the situation). This is a formula for success ... It is no surprise that two other Leaves and Beans Roasting Co stores have opened in the Peoria area and will do quite well if they follow the same formula --- great coffee, good food, and wonderful service. BTW - the low acidity of the decaf Sumatra is just what my wife can drink ... she's ordered from specialty coffee stores ... but we have discovered that the LNB brand satisfies her special dietary needs.

Always have an amazing experience. The only place in Peoria that carries Big Train chai to my knowledge. However, that being said, I came in today and order a chai with skim milk. Being out of skim milk I was told my other options are whole or soy. Wanting a thinner liquid with the thickness of the chai I chose soy. I was charged 75 cents for the soy. I'm not sure if I would've been up charged for skim but I think if you're out of the product I want, I shouldn't be charged for a product I don't really want...

Purchased pounds of coffee from downstairs area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. PLEASE NOTE if you have a sensitive nut-allergy like I do have someone else go inside! The aromas from the nut-flavored coffees gave me a mild reaction which resulted in an ER visit--not fun!

I have been searching for a new place to eat breakfast and finally found one worth the trip. The coffee is fabulous and the tea is well above average. The staff is very friendly and seem to know all of their regulars by name and what they normally order. The food items were good enough that I will definitely go back again and again.

My wife and I visit at least two times a week. Just walking in, you can smell the great coffee they serve. I have had their breakfasts and don't pass up the "trifecta" omelette. Muffins, cookies, croissants... you name it, they serve it. Locally owned and operated, this place just does it well.

Good coffee. Comfortable place to relax and read the paper. Live music in the summer every other Saturday evening.

I think this is a really neat place. Their mocha's are wonderful and I love how it's in an old home-makes it very cozy! I also love how they roast their own beans downstairs and you can buy bulk coffee beans in every imaginable flavor. It's a nice locally owned place! Support it!

Leaves and Beans is a great coffee shop located in an old house in Peoria Heights. It's located near a bunch of smaller shops and makes a great stop when you're browsing around. As a coffeephile, I can't say enough good things about the coffee. Leaves and Beans roasts their own and wholesales it to a number of coffee places in the area. The house is a nice place to sit and drink coffee or have a muffin, however the hours aren't such that you could hang out in the evening. The entire basement is open for buying beans for home. This is probably the best part of the store. You can enter the basement from the side street and browse through a myriad of different roasts as you try to decide which of the great coffees you want to take home.

The email that I was going to send to the owner/mgr of this cafe except their email address rejected it. Dear Owner/Manager, I am a customer of the coffee bean portion of the shop but yesterday was my first time stopping in for a meal. After the excellent customer service and selection in the retail portion, I was not expecting anything like my cafe visit. I can't imagine my experience was the norm considering how long you have been in business and the positive reviews you have on Yelp, along with the great service I have always received in the retail area. Although we were not given a reason for the unusually long delay for food & drinks, I would imagine it was due to only having 2 staff members on hand. We entered your cafe at 12:45 p.m. and left at 2:05 p.m. We ate our omelets in about 5 minutes so the other hour and fifteen minutes were spent waiting for a Grecian omelet and a veggie omelet. Although it was a nice day and we passed the time on your porch, we had arrived hungry and were absolutely starving and inhaled our food the moment it arrived. I can't really even say if it was good or not because I'm not sure I chewed it. There was another table of 4 people seated nearby who were discussing the unusually long wait and went inside at one point to see what was going on. They were given half of their meals about 15 minutes before the other two. The two girls working were extremely harried and stressed, failing to smile or greet us or any other guests. One couple stood at the counter for about 10 minutes and then walked out after not being greeted or told 'just a minute'. If the cafe was short staffed, the remaining employees would've been better off closing the kitchen and focusing on the drinks. Then we would've still got a coffee to-go and gone elsewhere for breakfast while keeping the cafe on our places to try list. On a busy weekend filled with errands and places to go, I just don't think I will have the time to try the cafe again. But I still love your beans :)

This place has everything you could want. Great specialty drinks, bottomless coffee mugs, delicious egg sandwiches and omlettes, and once you fall in love w/ their coffee or tea you can always go downstairs and purchase tea leaves and whole beans (get it? leaves and beans) I probably grab a bite here at least once a week. I have had some burnt coffee sometimes...but when it's bottomless coffee, I just pour out the bad, let them know and grab another blend.

Stopped in for a bottomless mug this morning; I also had an Orange Cherry muffin. This review is based almost solely on the coffee. It is phenomenal coffee! You will not have smoother more flavorful coffee anywhere. Also, the store part is pretty nice, and the staff were all very friendly. I will be coming back here sometime in the near future for breakfast.

My bf's parents live in Peoria and we visited them this past labor day weekend. We had brunch at Leaves & Beans on Sunday morning and it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals (decadent crepes, omelets, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, home fries) and the coffee was fantastic! It was so fantastic that we even brought back a couple of bags of their flavored coffee and espresso. The guy/owner that was working was so nice and informative and made us feel right at home. If there was a Leaves & Beans in my Brooklyn neighborhood, I'd probably become a coffee addict. Those who live in Peoria should really take advantage of having a place like this and should support it to the fullest that they can.

When I worked near this place I would walk to it. The specialty coffee drinks are just really touch and go... some days they were really good and other days they were just not made correctly. I do like their lunch menu - the Green Earth sandwich is yummy. I would still go back, but I am not a fan of their coffee drinks anymore. I heard their bags of coffee are really yummy from quite a few people, so maybe that's the way to go. If you want a good iced latte or mocha, try Caribou or Starbuck's. For the same price you can even get a bigger size elsewhere.

Such a very nice place, great people working here and delicious food and fresh baked pastries. If you are in Peoria it's worth a little driving to go to this secluded neighborhood cafe.

Visited last time I was in Peoria. Decent selection and quality, marking down one star because it took an unusually long time to get our drinks. Would definitely go back if I was in the area, though.

I really enjoy this place. It's situated in a very old house, with lots of charm and character. The staff has always been friendly when we have stopped by. The coffee is very good as well, and their mochas are wonderful!

I have been on the lookout for a quiet place to sip tea and work on my laptop, and I found this spot through the magic of Yelp. The staff was very friendly, knowledgable, and helpful in selecting tea. The shop has a very nice, cozy atmosphere to it, the kind of place that lets you escape from the world for a time with a good book and a hot beverage. Plus you've got the smell of coffee that's packaged in-house adding to the overall ambience. If you're nice the staff will give you the password for free wifi.

You have to try the Pecan Sticky Bun coffee! There are so many flavors to choose from. I can't get out of there without at least three different flavors of coffee. You can buy a half pound if you want to try a new kind.

I've only been here once, but I had some of the best tasting coffee (Breakfast Blend) I've ever had! The guy who waited on us was very friendly. Also, my girlfriend and I both got breakfast sandwiches that were very good. I can't wait for my next opportunity to get some coffee there!

We want to love this place and I think it can get there. It is a great space to have a read and a coffee. The coffee and service, however, are not the greatest. If you want a good cup of black coffee you will be directed to pump it out of a thermos into a Styrofoam cup and sometimes is has been around for a while. We have been in several times and are usually the only ones there, yet feel as if there is chaos surrounding our simple order. The food wants to be good, but is really sub-par. I say keep going. The idea is there, but it has just not come together yet.
